Poppy Lockets: What's in The Name?

When I first named my brand Poppy Lockets, I chose it simply because I loved the name & how it sounded - soft yet strong, delicate yet meaningful. It felt gentle, hopeful, and quietly powerful, much like the lockets themselves. At the time, I hadn’t thought about it's significance when it came to the deeper symbolism of the poppy flower in relation to remembrance. But now, looking back, I believe the name chose me - and it couldn’t be more fitting.
As I grew deeper into what Poppy Lockets stands for - healing through connection, memory, and meaning - I discovered the timeless significance of the poppy. It’s not just a pretty name or just a flower. It’s a symbol of remembrance, of resilience, and of love carried close to the heart, much like my lockets.
The Poppy & Remembrance
The red poppy first became a powerful symbol of remembrance after World War I, inspired by the famous poem 'In Flanders Fields'. It bloomed on battlefields where soldiers had fallen, symbolising both bloodshed and hope.
Today, the poppy is worn in many countries every November, paying silent tribute to those who sacrificed their lives. It's a powerful symbol, one that speaks across generations and borders.
Ireland’s Connection to the Poppy
In Ireland, the poppy holds a layered meaning. It’s tied not only to the World Wars, but to Ireland’s own complex history. For many Irish families, particularly those with loved ones who served in the British armed forces, the poppy is a heartfelt way to remember. It may not be universally worn, but for many, it carries real emotional significance.
For Poppy Lockets, this makes the flower all the more meaningful. It’s not about politics, it’s about people. It's about honouring connection, love, and memory.
Lockets: Jewellery with a Soul
Lockets are more than beautiful pieces of jewellery. They are sacred keepsakes, vessels that hold the essence of someone you love. Whether you keep a photo, a symbol, or a whispered prayer inside, a locket becomes a part of your story - worn over the heart for a reason.

A Pink Poppy
As the brand has grown, I felt it was time to honour the poppy visually, too. So I’ve chosen to incorporate a poppy flower into the Poppy Lockets logo - but not in red.
I’ve chosen pink, to reflect the soft, healing energy and feminine strength behind the brand.
The pink poppy is still rooted in remembrance, but with a gentler voice. It speaks of compassion, love, and the light that follows darkness. It’s the perfect symbol for what Poppy Lockets truly stands for: healing through connection.
When a Name Becomes a Legacy
Sometimes, we only understand the meaning of something once we begin to live it.
Poppy Lockets started as a name I loved - and has become a legacy of love, remembrance, and strength.
With every locket, I hope to offer a space for you to hold what matters most.
A memory.
A name.
A reminder that love never really leaves us.
